According to the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics,in the first half of 2023,the total electricity generation in the Netherlands reached 59.7 billion kilowatt hours,of which renewable energy generation increased to 27.6 billion kilowatt hours,a year-on-year increase of 14%,accounting for 46%.In renewable energy,solar power generation increased by 25%year-on-year to 11 billion kilowatt hours,mainly because more and more people are purchasing solar panels;Wind power generation increased by 16%to 13 billion kilowatt hours,mainly due to an increase in the number of offshore wind turbines and more favorable wind power on land.The relatively expensive production of natural gas and coal has led to a year-on-year decrease of 8%in fossil energy generation,to 30 billion kilowatt hours.
In the first half of 2023,the import of electricity decreased by 3%year-on-year,to 9 billion kilowatt hours.Electricity imports from Denmark and the UK have decreased,while imports from Norway have increased.Electricity exports increased by 17%to 14 billion kilowatt hours.The export growth to Germany was the most significant,with the Netherlands’electricity exports surpassing imports for the seventh consecutive quarter.
