Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar stated that India will receive 1000MW of electricity from Nepal.
He said on social media, “I am pleased to note that Nepal will export nearly 1000MW of electricity to India, which is a new milestone. Our neighborhood first policy and unique folk cultural connections have propelled our relationship forward
This was announced after a meeting with Nepalese Prime Minister Arzu Rana Deuba on an official visit to India.
In addition to energy, officials from both countries also discussed cooperation in areas such as trade, connectivity, and infrastructure construction.
According to the Indian state-owned enterprise SJVN, prior to this, the Indian Cabinet Economic Affairs Committee had approved a $6.95 billion investment for the 669MW Lower Arun hydropower project in Nepal.
